Discussion

Beginning today (Friday) and extending through the weekend and into early next week, winds are expected to increase. A large low-pressure will press into the continent from the Pacific Ocean. We'll continue to be dry though, so no rain is expected.

On any given day, PM10 (dust) should continue to be highest in industrial areas south/southwest of the Phoenix metro area, namely weekdays. PM10 levels in these areas are also generally expected in the mornings.

Of course, we can't rule out pockets of dust from dust-prone areas during breezier periods. Such times currently look to be the next few afternoons and/or evenings.

At least for now, the dust risk (i.e. risk of exceeding the health standard) is Low.

Check back again on Monday for the next update.
