Forecast Discussion:

Thunderstorm winds yesterday and the night before lead to elevated Particulate levels at times yesterday with daily averages for both PM10 and PM2.5 in the Moderate range. Thunderstorm activity today is expected to be confined to New Mexico. The opportunity for thunderstorm activity over Arizona is expected to be on Tuesday. But coverage, if any, will be isolated and limited to the eastern quarter of the state. Otherwise, breezy to windy afternoons akin to springtime is expected today through Tuesday.

With no thunderstorm winds, blowing dust is not anticipated. Beneficial ventilation is expected to keep both PM10 (dust) and PM2.5 (smoke) levels in the Good range. Of note, there will be some short lived periods (mornings and late evenings) with somewhat elevated hourly values but those are not expected to be enough to push the daily averages out of the Good range.
