Forecast Discussion:
Ozone is forecasted to have multiple days in the Good AQI range. There will be a trough of low pressure that passes today, and this will decrease daily ozone values. Breezy easterly winds arrive Saturday afternoon which will once again help limit ozone concentrations. However, daily ozone values are forecasted to increase when ridging returns Sunday.
Today there is rain expected east of Tucson with a chance for an isolated shower to reach Tucson during the day. However, this rain will not impact hourly PM10 values for long. More of an impact will be found on Saturday afternoon as breezy easterly winds arrive. However, daily PM10 values are forecasted to remain in the Good AQI range.
Daily PM2.5 levels will continue to depend on wood burning activities and inversions that keep the smoke near the surface. Also, breezy easterly winds on Saturday are forecasted to better disperse PM2.5. The daily PM2.5 values are forecasted to be in the upper Good/low Moderate AQI category through early next week.
